Junior high and high school students from around the Commonwealth are set to compete in the 3rd Annual Valentine Sengebau Poetry Contest to be held at the Multi-Purpose Center on Friday, Feb. 24, from 3:30 to 5pm.This event, sponsored by the NMI Council for the Humanities, honors the late Valentine Sengebau, a long-time Palauan resident of the Commonwealth and well known poet. ...we learn that Sengebau was a Palauan who spent the last twenty or so of his years in Saipan, in the Northern Marianas, dying there in 2000. His work was lost in a house fire so the editors relied on the archives of the two newspapers to collect the poems, forty-one in all. [...]
