A career burglar known as the "Pentonville Poet" has been given a reduced jail sentence after he impressed a judge with his prison verse.Itsham Akhtar, 33, helped to steal £70,000-worth of designer clothes from a shop and was due a sentence of several years.But the judge, Miss Recorder Christine Laing, gave him just 15 months after reading a copy of his latest work, which she praised as "articulate and well-written".Sentencing Akhtar at Snaresbrook Crown Court she said: "You are clearly a man of considerable talent."She said Akhtar's poems showed there was hope for his future and added: "I have no doubt at all that you could have a very useful life.'
